Here’s your situation. You use a laptop
at the firm--it’s your only PC. At home, you have a cool, new
mega-powerful 600 MHZ PII multimedia stunner with Stones-concert level
audio, a video accelerator with more memory than your your last Pentium
had as its main memory (it’s all for the kids, of course--those
educational programs are pretty demanding (). How do you get information
to move back and forth between the two PCs? Some clunky Laplink
connection? No go with IR since the home PC doesn’t have any kind of
infrared port. Build a HAN ("Home Area Network) with a couple of
network adapters and a "tweaked crossover" cable or a cheapo
Ethernet hub? Kind of a hassle for many of us and still at least a $200
option if you use decent networking components. Send e-mail attachments
back and forth between laptop and PC. PuhLEEZE. Zip Disks? Nah. The way to
do it is to leverage those little USB ports festooning both PCs and using
Anchor Chips’ EZ-Link USB networking system. A USB cable with a little
mini-brick in the middle and their software is all you need. Plan on maybe
20 minutes of setup time at most if you have properly working USB ports to
begin with. What you end up with acts just like an Ethernet peer-to-peer
network--full accessibility to all drives, all peripherals--at 3 mbps
speed--this thing is a must have!

Face it--if your law firm isn’t swanky
enough to have its own fancy coffee cups emblazoned with the firm name and
logo, what are you going to do? Drink from styrofoam cups? Have a
collection of cups proudly promoting Joe’s Towing Service and Life
Insurance Agency? Why not amuse yourself, amaze your co-workers and just
have a more satisfying Java experience when you pour that hot, steaming
Joe into your Computergear emoticon coffee mugs. Each stoneware mug is
emblazoned with one of your favorite emoticons - from the mood-lifting
smiley :-) to the all-knowing, wink, wink, nudge, nudge <g>. Your
coffee deserves it--you deserve it. And it’s only 35 bucks -
equivalent to about 5 cups of Starbucks latte these days (.
